Monterrico, Guatemala Pacific coast

Monterrico Natural reserve(English version below)

Montérrico, Pacific coast of Guatemala

Monterrico Natural reserve Monterrico-Chiquimullila CanalBeach & natural reserve of Monterrico-Hawaï is located 3 hours away from Guatemala City on Guatemala’s Pacific coast – a great holiday destination also well known for its turtles conservation center, natural reserve and canal.

On week days Monterrico is a real paradise as nobody is around. But on week-ends, the beach & canal fill up with Guatemalans who are escaping the cities to relax & party so the vibe changes quite a bit.

During my 4-days trip (way too short!!), I had the chance to spend an afternoon with professional photographer Ricardo Mata Jr along the Chiquimulilla- Montérrico canal.  Photography has always been part of his life as his father was also a professional photographer. Ricardo now lives full time in Montérrico – he’s a photography teacher and organizes photography excursions and tours specialized in night painting, food styling and nature interpretation. I thank him very much for taking me out on a photo tour, you can find the  pictures from our trip here.
